We're one of the tools in this comparison

ConvertChat is on one side of this comparison. We built it, so we're biased. We'll be upfront about that.

What we can do is explain what each platform actually does, where each one is stronger, and help you figure out which one fits your situation. If Manychat is the right tool for you, we'd rather tell you that than waste your time.

Two different tools for two different problems

The most important thing to understand: Manychat and ConvertChat solve different problems.

Manychat is an inbound engagement platform. Someone comments on your Instagram post, sends you a DM, or replies to a story. Manychat triggers an automated flow: sends a message, collects an email, offers a discount code, routes to a human. It works across Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and Telegram. WhatsApp is one channel among many.

ConvertChat is an outbound remarketing platform. You have a list of contacts from your CRM, a spreadsheet, or an email list, and you want to reach them on WhatsApp. You upload the list, send a broadcast campaign, and an AI agent handles every reply: answering product questions, qualifying leads, booking calls, or taking orders. WhatsApp is the only channel.

The direction of the conversation is the fundamental difference. Manychat reacts to people reaching out to you. ConvertChat proactively reaches out to your existing contacts.

Where Manychat is stronger

No point pretending otherwise. Manychat is the better tool in several clear scenarios.

Instagram automation. If you run an Instagram-heavy business and want to automate DM responses, comment triggers ("comment LINK to get the discount"), and story reply flows, Manychat owns this space. ConvertChat does not do Instagram at all.

Multi-channel flows. Manychat connects Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and Telegram in a single flow builder. If a lead starts on Instagram and needs to continue on WhatsApp, Manychat handles the handoff. ConvertChat is WhatsApp only.

Visual flow builder. Manychat's drag-and-drop flow builder is mature and flexible. You can build complex branching logic, conditional delays, A/B tests, and integrations without writing code. ConvertChat does not have a flow builder. There is nothing to drag and drop.

Community and ecosystem. Manychat has millions of users, an active community, courses, agencies that specialize in it, and a marketplace of templates. ConvertChat is early-stage and invite-only.

Free plan. Manychat offers a free tier (25 contacts, no WhatsApp). ConvertChat does not have a free plan.

Where ConvertChat is stronger

ConvertChat was built for a specific problem that Manychat doesn't solve well.

Outbound broadcast campaigns. ConvertChat is built around sending approved template messages to your existing opted-in contacts at scale. Upload your list, write a campaign, send it. Manychat can send WhatsApp broadcasts, but it's a secondary feature on a platform designed for inbound flows. If broadcasting to existing contacts is your primary use case, ConvertChat is purpose-built for it.

AI agent on replies. When you send a broadcast to 5,000 contacts, hundreds might reply. ConvertChat's AI agent handles those conversations automatically: it answers product questions, qualifies leads, and books calls or takes orders. It works around the clock, including at 2 AM on a Sunday. Manychat has an AI add-on ($29/mo extra), but it sits on top of rule-based flows rather than replacing them. ConvertChat's AI is the core product, not a bolt-on. For a deeper look at what the AI agent does and where it falls short, see our WhatsApp AI agent guide.

Zero setup burden. ConvertChat's team sets up your WABA (WhatsApp Business Account), handles Meta Business Verification, writes and submits your first message templates, and gets you sending. You don't touch Meta Business Manager. Manychat gives you the tools to do it yourself. If Meta's setup process is what's been holding you back, that difference matters.

Email-to-WhatsApp bridge. If you have an email list but no WhatsApp audience, ConvertChat helps you migrate those contacts into opted-in WhatsApp subscribers. This is a specific workflow that Manychat doesn't address. We wrote a full breakdown of how the email-to-WhatsApp funnel works.

WhatsApp depth. Because ConvertChat only does WhatsApp, the entire product is built around Meta's rules: messaging tiers, quality ratings, template approval mechanics, and broadcast pacing. This specialization matters when you're sending at scale and need to protect your sender reputation.

Have a contact list you're not reaching? Let's talk about what it's worth.

Pricing comparison

Both tools use different pricing models, which makes direct comparison tricky.

Manychat charges by contacts. The free plan covers 25 contacts (no WhatsApp). Pro starts at $29/mo for 2,500 contacts and includes WhatsApp. The AI add-on is an extra $29/mo. Pricing scales with your contact count.

ConvertChat charges flat monthly fees. Starter at $79/mo (1,000 contacts), Growth at $199/mo (10,000 contacts), Scale at $499/mo (50,000 contacts). AI is included in every plan. Annual billing saves 20%. Full details on the pricing page.

Both platforms pass through Meta's per-message fees, which vary by country and message category. For a detailed breakdown of those fees, see our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide.

At small scale (under 1,000 contacts doing inbound only), Manychat Pro is cheaper. At larger scale with AI on replies, ConvertChat becomes more cost-effective because the AI agent is included rather than billed separately, and flat pricing means no surprises as your contact list grows.

Pick the right tool

This is not about which tool is "better." It's about which tool matches your situation.

Use Manychat if:

  • Instagram is a major channel for your business
  • You want to automate DM responses and comment triggers
  • You need multi-channel flows (Instagram + Messenger + WhatsApp + email)
  • You're comfortable building your own automation flows
  • You want a free plan to test before committing

Use ConvertChat if:

  • You have an existing contact list sitting in a CRM or spreadsheet
  • Your goal is outbound: reaching contacts proactively, not responding to inbound messages
  • You want an AI agent handling replies instead of building chatbot flows manually
  • You don't want to deal with Meta's WABA setup, verification, and template approvals
  • WhatsApp is your primary or only messaging channel

Use both if:

  • You run Instagram for lead generation (Manychat captures inbound leads) and want to run broadcast remarketing campaigns to your full contact list (ConvertChat handles outbound). They solve different parts of the funnel.

FAQ

Can Manychat send WhatsApp broadcast campaigns?

Yes, but it's not the primary use case. Manychat supports template messages and broadcast functionality on WhatsApp. The platform is optimized for automated flows triggered by user actions (comments, DMs, keywords), not for proactive outbound campaigns to large contact lists. If outbound broadcasting is your core need, it's a secondary feature in Manychat's interface.

Does ConvertChat have a chatbot flow builder?

No. ConvertChat uses an AI agent instead of rule-based flows. You don't build decision trees or drag-and-drop automations. The AI reads the conversation context and responds accordingly. This means less setup work but also less control over exact response paths. If you need deterministic "if X then Y" logic, Manychat's flow builder gives you that control.

Can I migrate from Manychat to ConvertChat?

If you have a list of opted-in WhatsApp contacts in Manychat, you can export them and upload them to ConvertChat. The opt-in consent transfers as long as you have records of it. Your flow automations won't transfer (ConvertChat doesn't use flows), and you'll need new message templates approved by Meta for your ConvertChat WABA.

Which tool is cheaper?

It depends on your usage. Manychat Pro starts at $29/mo for 2,500 contacts without AI. ConvertChat Starter is $79/mo for 1,000 contacts with AI included. At the low end, Manychat is cheaper. Once you add Manychat's AI ($29/mo extra) and scale past a few thousand contacts, the gap narrows or reverses. The real cost driver for both platforms is Meta's per-message fees, not the subscription.

I'm in the US. Can I use either tool for WhatsApp marketing?

Not for outbound marketing. Meta paused marketing template messages to US (+1) numbers in April 2025. Both Manychat and ConvertChat are affected equally since this is a Meta policy, not a platform limitation. Service and utility messages still work.
